Unbeknownst to Ashley Prigge that her semester project would lead to a digital internship with the International Mission Board, Ashley took on the tall task of reviewing churches to help other students away from home find the best place for themselves in a faith-based community. Stating that there seems to be a church on every corner in Nashville, Ashley wanted to help narrow down the many options and give more practical help in her blog Gather & Grow. Her reason is simple, “God has such a uniquely designed purposed for every person on this earth and we are created to be in community with one another!” She further states, “I understand the stress of finding a faith community here, but I also know how important it is to get rooted in a group of believers who will walk alongside you. This blog is designed to help you learn about the churches in your area and from there, get connected with the tools and resources to help you grow!”
Ashley did a series of blogs that reviewed local churches and even highlighted some of their leaders. Here is a sample of some of her blogs:
- Church Highlight – Kairos
- Community Leader Highlight – DJ Carr
- Church Highlight – Ethos Church
- Community Leader Highlight – Addie Smith
A particularly beautifully written blog of hers was “Love One Another.” In this blog, she reminds us all of the second great commandment in the Bible, “Love one another.” In this, she writes about how Jesus got involved in the lives of everyone, no matter their background. “Jesus did not love from afar, he got up close with those who were dismissed by society and listened to what they had to say. It was in those moments when Jesus showed the perfect love of God and they saw it. They saw what He was teaching come to life.”
As the course requires, Ashley provided a way for visitors to her site to connect with her. If you would like to get any help or perspective on the local faith community in Nashville, you can fill out her Contact Me page.
In regards to the course, Ashley states:
“My experience with The Digital Engine has been extremely helpful and encouraging for someone who potentially wants to go into social media marketing. It provides practical and useful information for how to create your brand from scratch. I knew all of the ingredients that went into creating a marketing plan, but the Digital Engine helps you apply that to the different facets of social media. It helps explain everything step-by-step in a way where very few people could get confused. The difficult process of setting up and connecting your website to google analytics was made easy through the instructions and allowed for a stress-free setup experience. I am now going into a digital internship with International Mission Board to help design and implement a social media marketing plan for them and am excited to utilize the tools I have learned from this practicum.”
One of the greatest rewards as a professor is seeing the growth in such young, ambitious, and courageous people. Through her blog, social media, and email campaigns, Ashley was very courageous in expressing her faith and her desire to help others on their own faith journey. Seeing a passion in your students is what makes this profession and this course so fulfilling. The Digital Engine makes it easy to allow students to express their personal passions and allows them the opportunity to professionally place that influence into the world, like through her digital internship. We are extremely proud of you Ashley!
